ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
If you are a higher education professional interested in improving transfer, join us for NISTS 2024, where every session will explore the unique complexities of the transfer journey. You’ll learn practical and research-based strategies, build connections with others in similar roles, and boost your enthusiasm for this essential work. Because transfer success relies on a collaborative and holistic approach, we encourage individuals working in all functional areas at community colleges, universities, and other organizations to attend.
This Year's Theme:
"Full Steam Ahead: Leveraging Our Wins to Fuel System Change"
Years of scholarship and research have given us a pretty clear idea of how to fix the transfer system. Yet, for most of us, pursuing major structural changes and policy shifts probably falls beyond our roles. Faced with a vision of what could be, it's easy to feel stuck and disheartened, particularly amid lingering pandemic fatigue.
That's why we're making time to celebrate our wins, no matter how small, as building blocks for transformative change. Although our everyday work may seem inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, we firmly believe that every mindful interaction, simplified policy, and optimized program creates a ripple effect towards a more transfer-inclusive culture.
Join us in St. Louis to embrace the momentum of incremental change and harness the power of progress. Together, we'll find inspiration in what's working and chart a course through the challenges of today's evolving transfer landscape.
Much like the mighty steamboats of old, you are the driving force behind transfer success.
We hope to see you there! #FullSteamAhead!

Our event brings professionals from all levels and sectors of higher education together to "talk transfer" and reflect on best practices, emerging trends, and forward-thinking solutions.
A key highlight of your experience will be the chance to collaborate with others to draft a post-conference action plan to carry your conference experience forward. All registrants will also enjoy on-demand access to the full collection of presentation recordings and materials via our user-friendly conference app beginning in March. Access will remain open through May 31, 2024, giving you plenty of time to extend your learning.
We know that many institutions are facing budget cuts and travel funds are limited. While we are not holding a virtual conference this year, we will be launching an online professional development community. Stay tuned for more information coming this fall.
