EMILY KITTRELL, M.S.

Assistant Director
EMILY KITTRELL, M.S.

As Assistant Director at NISTS, Emily oversees professional development initiatives, including the nation's only annual conference solely focused on cross-functional transfer student success. Drawing from her knowledge of student development and instructional design, she coordinates learning experiences and resources that bridge research and practice, including co-authoring Supporting Transfer Student Success: Five Key Faculty Strategies and How to Create and Sustain a Transfer Student-Centered Web Presence. More recently, Emily served on the Learning Evaluation and Recognition for the Next Generation (LEARN) Commission and co-lead the revision of the CAS Standards for Transfer Student Programs and Services.

A regular presenter at national conferences and state-level workshops, Emily is known for delivering energetic and practical insights to help practitioners better serve transfer students. Prior to joining the NISTS team in 2017, Emily held roles in testing, registration, and student orientation at a primarily transfer-sending, two-year campus. She earned a bachelor of science degree in Psychology from the University of Central Arkansas and a master of science degree in Family Studies from the University of Kentucky.

On a more personal level, Emily is a dog mom of two and devoted professional aunt. She's an Enneagram 1 and loves reading, listening to podcasts, sight-seeing, learning stuff from YouTube, and eating fun or weird new foods (as long as they don't have meat!). :)
